An Employee Driven Success Story

R.A Jones

R.A Jones decided to go solar after an employee-driven initiative aimed at reducing the company’s environmental footprint and preparing for long-term energy stability. The primary motivation was to embrace sustainability and reduce reliance on traditional energy sources, with the added benefit of supporting electric vehicle charging for employees.

SOLAR SOLUTION
In partnership with Melink Solar, R.A. Jones installed 3,773 solar panels, covering the roof of their manufacturing facility in Covington, Kentucky. Spanning thousands of square feet, this solar array generates 2.12 million kWh annually, meeting 54% of the facility’s energy needs. The system also includes electric vehicle charging stations, helping the company embrace greener practices across the board.

RESULT

The decision to go solar will save R.A. Jones an estimated $6.4 million over the next 30 years while offsetting the carbon emissions equivalent to planting 1,300 acres of trees. This project has made R.A. Jones a leader in industrial solar energy adoption, especially in Kentucky, where solar still represents less than 1% of the state’s energy mix.

“At R.A Jones, what started as an employee idea turned into a game-changing decision for our future. We’re saving energy, money, and contributing to a more sustainable world.”

Testimonial

Melink Solar made it easy to go solar

“We had explored solar a few years ago with multiple solar companies, and Melink Solar was not one of them at that time. When we got our proposal from Melink Solar it was easy to read, easy to understand, and their experience in the space is probably why they’re so good at what they do. They under-promised and over delivered – which is rare these days. That’s why I don’t hesitate to refer Melink Solar to other industrial companies.”

Manufacturers adopting solar power are seen as forward-thinking, future-minded leaders, which resonates with customers, investors, and partners alike. For example, we’ve helped our Commercial and Industrial customer incorporate solar into their operations, enhancing their brand image while realizing energy savings. By adopting solar, you can attract new customers, strengthen partner relationships, and position your business as a sustainability leader.

Unlock 30% Federal Solar Incentives

Manufacturers and commercial companies are eligible for the 30% Federal Solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC), which significantly reduces the upfront costs of solar installations. In some Midwestern states, additional state and local incentives further lower the financial barrier, making solar a smart investment. This combination of federal and local incentives helps companies adopt renewable energy solutions, resulting in long-term cost savings and enhanced energy independence.
